#2. Awards that mean nothing
'Top 10 Middle East' style awards from pop-up media outlets with submission fees of AED 5,000–25,000 and no judging panel disclosure. They are advertising, not recognition.
#3. How to tell the difference
Real awards publish the judging panel, the criteria, the entry list, the shortlist and the winners independently. Paid awards publish only the winner.
#4. Authority recognition vs. industry awards
Dubai Municipality Contractor of the Year, ADM safety recognition, and Civil Defence appreciation letters are higher signal than commercial awards — issued by regulators, not magazines.
